Remote clipboard non-functional after upgrading to Windows 10 (1607)

I have been running on Windows 10 for quite a while (since last fall) and using Dameware Remote Support (11.0.0.1003).  Recently I upgraded to the latest W10 version (1607).  Unfortunately, this broke the remote clipboard.  I have a co-worker who had the same experience.  The only difference between the two was that his mini-remote worked fine, then he upgraded to the "full-version" (as we call it).

 

Any ideas about how to fix this?  I would have thought a reinstall of the application, but with the fresh install that was broken that didn't seem like a solution.  Any thoughts?

Yes, I've seen the June 2011 discussion blaming Microsoft for this same problem but I'm wondering if anything has changed since then. Here's why.

 

Since I upgraded to DRS v9.0.1.247 last week, I have been unable to use it. I continually show No PDC. Yes, when I use Hyena v9.2 and open Computers, they all show.

 

Does this not indicate a problem within DRS? If the problem was due to NETBIOS browsing in Windows Server 2008 shouldn't both DRS and Hyena be unable to access the computer browser?

SFT not working

SFT not working:

1. I've installed DWMRC v7.5.6.0 on my local windows 7 pro 64 machine.

2. I've installed DWMRCS Agent v7.5.6.0 on the remote pc of one of my customers windows XP Pro 32 bit SP3. Please note that after Installing the Agent I've rebooted the pc. I've installed the Agent after having logged in as Administrator.

If I try to upload from my pc, right clicking on a file on my desktop I can see in the context menu:

DameWare MRCC -> Copy to Remote Host: HOST_NAME

but pressing it does blink and does not upload the file.

On the remote pc things are worse: the DameWare MRCC context menu's menuitem is completely missing.

Please note that on the remote machine I have enabled SFT in the tryicon settings.

This is specific to this connection: I can upload/download files and folders when connected with other customers.

Any idea?

Does the file get copied when you drag and drop it into the application? (local >remote)
Does the file get copied if you use the SFT Drop window? (hold down shift+blue folder)(remote>local)

This would determine if it is the SFT feature failing or the right click context that's failing.

No, the file is not get copied when I drag drag and drop it into the application (local >remote)

No, the file is not get copied if I use the SFT Drop window (hold down shift+blue folder)(remote>local) and an notification dialog appears:

The MRC Client Agent are not ready for file transfer

Some idea on how to solve this issue: SFT is foundamental to my day to day support activity.

If there are errors with SFT (or any other feature) there should be 1 or more dwmrcs entries in the Application Event log on the remote machine. Please copy and paste the full text of each of those entries and send this information to our support team at Support@dameware.com so we can review it. Please also send another screen shot of the exact error that's displayed when you try to open the SFT drop window on the remote machine (Shift + blue folder).

So nothing happens when you drag a file/folder from your local machine into the Open MRC connection window?

Also see if the %windir%\dwrcs\sft folder exists.

Hi again Fabio,

One more thing you might want to try is to update the MRC Client Agent service on the remote machine once you get connected, in case there is some type of file corruption. Make your MRC connection, then select File / Update Client Agent from the MRC main menu. Then try your SFT again.

Dameware 11.2 - Authentication

We are currently testing deployment of Dameware Mini Remote Control to the client systems.

 

With the previous version (11.1), we were able to add a new line to the registry location [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\DameWare Development\Mini Remote Control Service\Settings]

"UseCurrentLogonCredentials"=dword:00000001

This would automatically select 'Windows NT Challenge/Response' and check the 'Use Current Logon Credentials'

 

This is not seems to be the case with the new version 11.2. When I add the link, nothing seems to happen.

 

Can anyone suggest solution?

How to perform agentless remote user connection using the Intel AMT feature ?

 

Most of my HP Desktop got Intel AMT feature sticker in front of it.

We have several different versions of Dameware and are running into some issues using Dameware (f.ex. connecting with MRC to Windows 10 machines). My question is: from what version is Windows 10 supported by Dameware?

SolarWinds.MRC.Licensor has stopped working

We are still using the DameWare RS 9.0V where I work and I had to reload DameWare on to my system the other day.  When I loaded DMRS onto my system I received a "SolarWinds.MRC.Licensor has stoppped working" error.   When I click on the "Close the program", the entire program closes.  What is the fix for this error?

License Activation Crash

Hi, I have a problem to activate the latest version of DameWare Remote Support. When I i try to launch the executable SolarWinds.DRS.Licensor.exe or try to click the button "Enter License" inside DameWare Remote Support software I obtain the following error: "SolarWinds.MRC.Licensor has stop working" and in my computer event viewer I have these two entries:

When I try to use the "display user logon/logoff information" I receive an error:  "Failed to Get User Information.  System Error:2814 System Message: The service has not been started:"

Default Host Properties - Remove Service on Disconnect

Hello. I'm very new to Dameware.  We have the centralized solution, using the MSI tool to create an msi package that's distributed via SMS.  Prior to this, my colleagues on the other side of the world had been using the stand-alone version. Apparently IT Security had advised on security settings, one of which I'm not sure I understand how it works, specifically the 3 options under Install Options in Default Host Properties in Mini Remote Control. All of these were checked.  My questions regarding this are:

 

1. If 'Remove service on disconnect' is selected, wouldn't that basically nullify the other two options, Stop service on disconnect and Set Service Startup type to "Manual" default is automatic'?  IOW, If the desire is to remove the client on disconnect, wouldn't selecting the single option negate the need to select the other two options?

 

2. How do you control these settings since it seems that this is set in MRC?  So, for example, the MRC client is rolled out via SMS and installed on the remote PC, would each tech using MRC have to edit these settings for their own installation, in order to remove the client on disconnect?  Is there a way to make this setting global? How do you enforce something like this (i.e., all techs have this option either ENABLED or DISABLED)?

 

3. Is there a best practice with regard to the client and if it should remain installed?  Should it be removed after every disconnect? If so, why?

Logged in Users to the machine

Hello everybody,

 

we are running the actual version of DameWare 11.1.0.170 for our Administrators to have some smooth remote support ability.

There is only one problem/missed function, we want to have.

 

We want to see which user is logged into a machine, when we are checking our "Active Computer list" in DameWare.

Also I know this can be done via the Active Directory (add to the description field on the computer), but then we have some double maintenance.

 

Is there any functionality on DameWare to check which user is logged into. For example is DameWare able to readout the "User and Groups" of Windows or the registry to check whether which user has logged in today?

Security issue with Dameware remote support ver 11.2.0.84

I'm owner of Dameware NT Utilities (Version 6.9.0.4) And found security issue with it
This was tested also on New Dameware remote support ver 11.2.0.84
With same Problem

The Issue is when changing group membership in AD (Under "Microsoft WIndows Network" -> Groups
Their is no audit in the Security event log of the Domain controller's (Changing with Microsoft tools is audit & Event 5136 is recorded)
we have AD 2008 R2


Anyone else notice this ?

How to get an older Version of Dameware CentralServer (Admin Console)?

Hey there, just a quick question

I want to install an older Version of DameWare CentralServer, to be speciefic I need an older Version of the AdminConsole (v 12.0.3.4010) to get a connection to my Server again, as my Admin console is not functioning anymore and when I try to use 12.0.5.6002 it tells me that the versions do not match and I need to reinstall.

 

 

Is there a possibility to get the older version somewhere ? I'm planning to update the Software in the future but for now I just need the AdminConsole to get to work with the Server again.

 

It seems that my install file v12.0.3 is corrupt and does not work anymore.. Maybe someone can help me out.

Dameware MRC V.12 - WOL & Saved Host List

Hallo,

wir setzen Dameware MRC V.12 auf jedem unserer IT-PC ein und planen eine zentrale Ablage der Client-Liste samt Mac-Adresse etc. für den Wake-on-LAN Einsatz.

Dies funktioniert soweit lokal an einem PC schon gut, jedoch bietet das WOL-Fenster nur Zugriff auf die Saved Host List eines jeweiligen Rechners.

Gibt's es eine Möglichkeit diese Einstellung zu beeinflussen/ändern?

 

Die Global Host List kann ich z. B. am Server befüllen, jedoch bräuchte ich diese List dann wiederum im WOL-Fenster.

 

Hat hierzu irgendjemand einen Tipp oder Erfahrung?

I get this error when I use Dameware SSH client for windows(Ver: 1.0.0.0) to ssh to some of my ESXi servers. Any idea how it can be resolved?
