We're using the latest version of Remote Support (Centralized Install method). I'm pretty sure we've not had this problem before but I can't be sure.
Basically, the mirror driver stays 'in use' even after disconnecting, so it's breaking most of the Aero features (thumbnail previews in this particular case. I tried:
connecting and disconnecting to see if it cleared
forcefully ending the processes
None of those worked - the Aero troubleshooter still said mirror drivers were in use.
I had to uninstall the mirror driver from Display Adapters in Device Manager and reboot to clear it.
I'm sure that in the past (we've only just upgraded to the latest version) it would drop to Basic theme on connect, and go back to Aero theme on disconnect. Never had mirror drivers interfering with Aero before.
Is it because we've just never used the mirror driver method? Is it on by default only in newer versions. We were quite a few versions behind before upgrading.
And is this "by design" if using the mirror driver. What does the mirror driver actually do?
